WHERE IS THE HOUSTON ALUMNI WEB SITE?
The Houston Alumni Web site is located at www.mycougarconnection.com.
WHERE IS MY ALUMNI CLUB OR CONSTITUENT GROUP ASSOCIATION'S WEB PAGE?
Every alumni group is given a Web page on www.mycougarconnection.com for their club/association (at the club/association’s request). If you do not have a Web page for your group set up on www.mycougarconnection.com you may request one from Assistant Director of Alumni Programs at 713.743.9644.
WHO UPDATES THE INFORMATION ON EACH OF THE CLUB/ASSOCIATION WEB PAGES?
All club and constituent group pages are managed by a designated member (or members) of the respective group. If you are unfamiliar with HTML or anything related to Web design, don't sweat! If you can edit text in MS Word, you're set. Furthermore, we're here to help your group succeed; one-half hour training session with HAO's Web team is all you'll need to gain access to the HAO Web site to build / update your site.
NOTE: Some groups maintain a Web page outside of www.mycougarconnection.com. In such cases, you will need to contact an individual outside of HAO, or within your respective group, to gain access or have updates made.
I NEED A WEB SITE / PAGE FOR MY GROUP, WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?
Your alumni group may either maintain an easy template driven Web page provided by HAO on www.mycougarconnection.com (highly recommended, the best option for easy maintenance) or HAO can list and link (via a redirect) from www.mycougarconnection.com to an external Web site created, maintained, and hosted solely by your alumni group (not recommended).
WHO DO I CONTACT?
To learn about the options available to your group and/or gain access to your group's page, contact our Webmaster at 713.743.0829 or alumni@uh.edu.
ADDING EVENT REGISTRATION/CALENDAR EVENT LISTINGS TO THE MAIN ALUMNI CALENDAR
To add an event to the main calendar, and/or set up an RSVP event registration page (with or without online payment management), contact the Coordinator of Reservations at 713.743.0828 or ckkindal@central.uh.edu. Additionally, if your event requires marketing or communication materials such as print items, e-blasts (mass broadcast emails, etc.) please contact the Assistant Director of Alumni Programs at 713.743.9644 and fill out our online communication request form located on the Web at www.mycougarconnection.com/forms/e_communication_request.
E-NEWSLETTERS & E-BLASTS
For e-newsletters and e-blasts, complete the online communication request form.
E-mail is an efficient, cost-effective way to share information with your constituents. Make sure to send the e-mail out in a timely manner and include all pertinent information, including who to contact to RSVP and for questions. It’s important not to flood the e-mail boxes of your alumni, so put thought into how often you would like to send e-mails. E-mails are best for regular announcements, reminders and updates.
E-mail tips:
- Send complete information for the e-mail to HAO on the e-communications form.
- Create an enticing subject line that compels the reader to open the message. Make sure the subject line is not longer than 25 characters.
- If the e-mail contains separate items, separate them into clear headings.
- E-mails can include hyperlinks to a sponsor’s website.
E-COMMUNICATION REQUEST FORM
Please complete our online communication request form located on the Web at www.mycougarconnection.com/forms/e_communication_request. This form serves as your request for event registration, room reservation, print materials, and e-blasts. (See sample).
PHOTO GALLERY / PHOTO ALBUMS
HAO maintains an online photo album consisting of UH and alumni events at www.mycougarconnection.com/photo_gallery.
To have pictures posted from your event, send by email as jpeg images to alumni@uh.edu or by post (Attn: Webmaster, University of Houston Alumni Association, P.O. Box 230345, Houston, TX 77204-6000). We request a minimum of five photos, and a few sentences summarizing the title/event name, date, time, location and memorable highlights in order to post your event to the photo gallery.
Please send the highest quality images possible (original files from your camera). We'll need those images in order to help market your club or association and celebrate your successes in the UH Alumni Quarterly Magazine and other communication vehicles.
