INCREASING ASSOCIATION / CLUB MEMBERSHIP & PARTICIPATION

EVENTS
Place membership applications on a table at each event. Make a brief speech about membership. Consider hosting an event especially designed to recruit non-members (members bring their friends, send invitation to non-members, etc). Consider special pricing for members vs. non-members at events.

PHONE CALLS
Call lapsed members (3 months to 1 year time frame is usually most responsive) and encourage them to renew their membership. Please work with HAO on an appropriate “script” and phone lists.

E-MAIL
Send an e-mail to lapsed and/or never members and encourage them to renew or join. Please work with HAO on appropriate text and e-mail lists.

DIRECT MAIL
Send a postcard or letter to potential members. Please work with HAO on all aspects of direct mail projects (ideas, mailing lists, graphic design) so that you don't duplicate HAO-wide membership campaign efforts. Don't forget about postage and printing costs!

WORD-OF-MOUTH
Old-fashioned word-of-mouth can also be highly effective. Talk up your group. Send potential members to www.myCougarConnection.com to sign up if you don't have a membership application with you. Invite Cougars who you may see on a regular basis (at work, your child's school, religious institution, neighborhood, etc.) to keep their “Cougar connection” strong!
