Cougars Play the Liberty Bowl

Friday, December 29, 2006 - The Cougars played at the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee. South Carolina outscored Houston 44-36 behind a dazzling performance by quarterback Blake Mitchell. Mitchell tossed a bowl record-tying 4 touchdown passes on the way to being named the game's MVP. In front of a crowd of 56,103, the Gamecocks and Cougars put on a high-octane offensive performance that resulted in a 27-28 hafltime lead by Houston and a bowl record 55 first half points.
