UH TO PLAY AIR FORCE IN ARMED FORCES BOWL

For the second straight season, the Houston Cougar football team will finish their season by playing Air Force in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. The game will be played December 31 at 11:00 am in Fort Worth’s Amon G. Carter Stadium (on the TCU campus). more

COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE NAMES PATRICIA OLIVER AS NEW DEAN
Patricia Belton Oliver, who served as senior vice president of educational planning and architecture at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California from 2001-2008, has been named dean of the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture. She will assume the post beginning Jan. 20, 2010. more

PAUL CHU RETURNS TO UH FACULTY FULL TIME, RECEIVES GRANT
Professor Paul Ching-Wu Chu, founding director of the Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston (TcSUH), has returned full time to the University of Houston. more

The quality of a university, more than anything else, is measured by the quality of its graduates. Now in its 56th year, the University of Houston Alumni Association's annual Awards Dinner, held Friday, April 23rd at the Omni Houston Hotel, honors the men and women whose professional success, volunteerism, and generous spirit have positively reflected on the University of Houston in such a way that it merits public recognition. more

Homecoming golf tournament recap
Rain may have won the first nine, but the 27th Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament, rescheduled to this past December 7th—was once again a success. more

UH Considers New Athletics Facilities
Looking to perform a feasibility study on upgrading its football and basketball facilities, the University of Houston has chosen six architectural firms as finalists. Twelve firms originally placed bids to handle the study, which will explore eight different scenarios involving Robertson Stadium and/or Hofheinz Pavilion. more

Coach SUmlin Named Finalist for Bryant Award
Just a week removed from being named the 2009 Conference USA Coach of the Year, University of Houston head football coach Kevin Sumlin was named a finalist for the Marathon Oil Corporation Paul "Bear" Bryant Award. more
