MIKE HOLLEY ('90)
A Team Player

Ever since spending his entire Cougar football career blocking for UH Heisman trophy winner Andre Ware ('96), Mike Holley (‘90) has demonstrated that he is indeed a true team player. After a stint in junior college, Holley came to the University of Houston in 1988 and played an integral role in helping the Cougar football team earn a national ranking in both of his years at UH.
These days, Holley has a team of his own. In 2000, he started Human Resources and Payroll Solutions (HR&P) with the idea of creating a niche service that would work perfectly for companies with 10-500 employees. As the president and founder of the company, Holley and his staff of 12 aim to provide the highest quality human resource and payroll services to a broad range of clients.
“Each business is unique, just like their owners,” said Holley. “At HR&P, we cater to their specific needs and keep them up to speed on the never ending-changes in the field of human resources.”
Holley graduated from Klein High School in 1985 and received his bachelor's in Political Science from UH in 1990.
“Being a Cougar alumnus means everything to me,” said Holley. “I feel a special bond when I deal with other UH alumni, and I also think that going to school in the middle of a big city left me better prepared for the real world.”
In addition to being a Life Member of the Houston Alumni Organization, Holley is active on several non-profit boards and business development organizations in the Houston area. In his spare time, he also enjoys playing golf and traveling with his wife, Jen, and their daughter, Natalie.
“Attending UH and being a part of those fantastic UH teams made me believe in myself, develop a giving nature, and always do all I could to help others,” said Holley. “I've managed to transfer that philosophy into everything I do in life, and I'll always have an unshakeable sense of loyalty to the University of Houston.”
